Open Box Software wished to draw attention to their proficiency in integrating disparate software systems. To illustrate their skill, our solution was to dream up three uncanny products and build a web page for each. The playful hoax successfully generated interest and entertainment around a technical service that would normally be seen as difficult to approach.
Our role
Graphic Design, Web Development, Illustration, Conceptualisation & Strategy
Responsive web design for CoffeeShirt – the first, and possibly the most "believable" of our three Impossible Integrations.
Responsive web design for PowerMouse. We took inspiration from those intriguing too-good-to-be-true mail-order products advertised in old comic books (think "X-ray Specs"). Eagle-eyed viewers may also notice the appearance of the Konami Code – a well known cheat combination featured in old video games – which actually unlocks an easter egg on the site! ;)
Responsive web design for SmartPaper – the pièce de résistance of our Impossible Integrations campaign. This one relies heavily on illustrations to convey the unique features and futuristic inner-workings. Meme aficionados may notice the Horse_ebooks avatar making a guest appearance. Spoiler alert: the free sample is really just a printable PDF with no actual nanobots.
